Like any exhibit piece, your retractable banner stand is an investment. You should be able to get repeated use out of it for years and years to come. Unfortunately, many exhibitors fail to properly transport and care for their banner stands. This results in added wear and tear and, sadly, makes the banner unusable in just a few short months. In order to ensure you get the most use possible out of your retractable banner stand, it’s important to take care when transporting it.
Specifically, you should follow these tips:
Fully retract and tear down your banner before moving it.
When retracted, your banner stand is much easier to transport and protect. When left up or open, it’s exposed to many damaging elements along the way: the wind, the rain, the sun, and more. It’s also more vulnerable to getting torn, spilled on, creased, or broken when carried this way. Always fully tear down, retract, and store your banner before transporting anywhere.
Use a zippered, waterproof carrying bag.
Most retractable banner stands will come with a zippered bag for carrying. These aren’t just for looks; they’re there to protect and preserve your investment. Always insert your banner (fully retracted) into the zippered bag before moving it off-site. This will protect it from water damage, sun damage, and other elements, and it will make it easier for you to carry.
Keep it out of direct sunlight and extremely hot areas.
Never transport your retractable banner stand in your trunk or leave it unattended in a hot or sunny area. The heat can warp the materials, leaving you with a curled, wrinkled banner. The sun can also affect your banner’s coloring, adding an aged, yellowy look to even the newest piece.
