A successful trade show requires grabbing the attention of all passers-by. There might be hundreds of displays at any one trade show, so you need to catch people’s interest and attention to get them to walk over to your booth. With this in mind, additions to your booth that attract consumers will help you grab their attention away from other booths.
Before considering the components of your display, first consider the way it looks. When deciding on the make-up of your display, ask yourself, “Is this something I want to keep looking at?” If your booth is too cluttered, it’ll be hard for people to focus on the important aspects of your display. On the other hand, if you have a sparse display, there will simply be nothing to look at or focus on.
Choosing the right colours is key; not only should the colours reflect your product, but they should also complement each other in a way that makes your display both appealing to look at and different from the rest. Your colour combinations should be striking, or at the very least, engaging. Psychologically, people’s first impressions and judgements are made within seconds and are motivated by subconscious impulses. Though it may seem counterintuitive, if you have an unattractive display but have an amazing product, people may not be attracted to your display and they might even question the validity of your claims.
One great way of grabbing attention while providing important information is to use television screens. They allow you to project images, videos, and educational literature. TV’s can be used for different purposes – be it for the initial attraction to your booth or for keeping people occupied and informed while you’re occupied with another customer. Once people see you have a TV, they will be intrigued and curious as to what’s playing. Having TV screens shows consumers that your product is upscale and your company means business because, as we all know, TV’s can be an expensive investment!
Having material that consumers can take away with them will help serve as a reminder for your product later on, even after the trade show. If your booth is very busy, take-away reading material will help inform customers while you’re busy with other clients. Make sure this material is displayed in clear view so people don’t miss it.
Posters and signs with meaningful information as well as attractive colours and images will catch the attention of potential customers. Grabbing people’s attention away from competitors is only the first step. Once you’ve got their attention, you need to have something to keep them locked in on your product and display. Meaningful content and information will help you to do just that. This may include price points, favourable comparisons over your competitors, demonstrations, or even the history of your company or business.
Whatever you do, broadcast your company and product! This is not the time for modesty. You have to shout out what makes you different and why customers need your product (or service)! And you should do this in a captivating, modern way.
